UMass football: Minutemen announce schedule for 2025 season, will open MAC slate Oct. 4 against Western Michigan

The UMass football team and Mid-American Conference announced the release of their official schedules for the 2025 season on Wednesday. 

In their first year in the MAC, the Minutemen will play eight conference games and four non-conference opponents. 

The season opens with four non-conference games, beginning against Temple on Saturday, Aug. 30 at McGuirk Stadium. UMass remains in Amherst to take on FCS foe Bryant the following Saturday. It’s just the second time the two New England schools have faced off.

The Minutemen are on the road for their final non-conference games. The first is a trip to the Midwest to face Iowa on Sept. 13, with the Hawkeyes coming off an 8-5 season. On Sept. 27, UMass will take on Missouri at Memorial Stadium. The Tigers came up to Amherst and beat the Minutemen, 45-3, last fall. 

The MAC slate kicks off the following week. UMass’ return to the conference opens with a home game against Western Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 4 and the following week, the Minutemen head to Ohio to take on Kent State on Saturday, Oct. 11. 

UMass is in action the following two Saturdays, first hosting Buffalo on Oct. 18 before going on the road to face Central Michigan on Oct. 25. 

After a bye, the Minutemen close their season with four midweek MACtion contests. 

UMass will go on the road to play at Akron on Tuesday, Nov. 4 before hosting Northern Illinois on Wednesday, Nov. 12. The Minutemen then go on the road to face defending MAC champion Ohio on Tuesday, Nov. 18 before closing out their regular season by hosting Bowling Green on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
