CHARLEMONT — Some Mohawk Trail Regional School District member towns are considering filing a class action lawsuit against the state of Massachusetts for failing to adequately fund rural schools through Chapter 70.

CHARLEMONT — The Board of Health may be forced to shut down the Oxbow Resort, the split property offering traditional motel rooms and longer-term month-to-month apartments for rent, if the owner is unable to make upgrades that give tenants reliable access to heat and a kitchen soon.
Nearly 30 years ago, just after my wife and I moved to Charlemont to begin a farm, a piece appeared in the Recorder that caught my attention. I’ve been waiting for its logic to assert itself, but since it hasn’t yet, I am going to repeat what I remember of it.
It is wonderful to see the true face of Christianity shining forth in the words of Bishop Mariann Budde and getting the positive press they deserve. For too long the ugly face of Christian nationalism, which seeks to impose its hypocritical will on our nation and destroy our Constitution’s guarantee of a separation between church and state, has dominated press coverage and thus the public perception of Christianity.

CHARLEMONT — Colrain, Charlemont and Shelburne Falls firefighters gathered at 280 Zoar Road Wednesday morning to extinguish a minor fire that Charlemont Fire Chief Dennis Annear said likely originated with heat tape around the home’s water pipes.
