Mount Toby Concerts welcoming Windborne quartet

LEVERETT — Mount Toby Concerts is continuing its long-running concert series by welcoming folk quartet Windborne on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m.

The quartet is presenting its “Song on the Times” project, which draws on 400 years of working-class movements for people’s rights and adapts it to today’s struggles. They will also share their collection of music they have compiled over the decades, spanning a wide variety of genres.

The concert will be held at 194 Long Plain Road (Route 63). A recommended donation of $20 to $30 is requested, but folks can pay as they are able. To reserve seats, email diacrowe@yahoo.com or call 413-835-1695.

Conway Board of Health offering Jan. 24 Narcan training

CONWAY — The Board of Health is inviting Conway residents, as well as those from neighboring communities, to a 45-minute training session on Jan. 24 to teach them how to safely administer Narcan in the event of an overdose.

Board of Health Chair Kathy Llamas and member Jackie Choate, who is a longtime registered nurse, are welcoming the public to the Town Hall, 5 Academy Hill Road, to learn about the signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer Narcan, or its generic counterpart naloxone. Participants will be provided with two doses of Narcan and a face shield, along with literature on the subject.

The program will start at 6 p.m. Walk-ins are accepted, but those interested in attending can register in advance by calling 413-369-4235, ext. 8.

SOUTH DEERFIELD — All farmers and residents are invited to a forum on farm and landowner assistance programs on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. at the Deerfield Town Hall, 8 Conway St.

Representatives from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Franklin Conservation District and the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Districts will be on hand to talk about available programs and resources for farmers.

Deerfield students named to Quinnipiac University dean’s list

HAMDEN, Conn. — Two Deerfield students were named to Quinnipiac University’s dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester.

Residents Alexis Antonellis and Camryn Howe were named to the dean’s list for fall semester. To qualify, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than a C and they must complete at least 14 credits in a semester.
