Shelburne Cultural Council awards nearly $7K to 23 projects

SHELBURNE — The Cultural Council has awarded $6,955 in grants to fund a range of projects and programs in the arts, humanities and sciences in 2025.

For 2025, the council prioritized locally produced projects that “are innovative and participatory in nature, are especially geared toward our youth, or elevate the voices and experiences of historically marginalized groups,” according to the Shelburne Cultural Council page on the Massachusetts Cultural Council website.

The 23 grants awarded range from $125 to $700. The recipients are:

■Buckland Historical Society — Hilltown History Trail.

■Ashfield Historical Society — The Conservation Lab.

■Bill Knittle — Wild Bill & Big Trouble concert in Shelburne Falls.

■Pioneer Valley Symphony — “Peer Gynt” 2025 concert at Greenfield High School.

■The Art Garden — Winter HooPla.

■Four Rivers Charter Public School — Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month celebration.

■The LAVA Center — “On the Boards” play reading festival.

■Carrie Kline — “Songs and Stories of Appalachia and Rural America” at the Shelburne Falls Senior Center.

■Memorial Hall Association — Pothole Pictures 2025 season.

■Eli Elkus — Musical storytelling and folk songs at the Shelburne Falls Farmers Market.

■Elizabeth Ryan — After Porch Fest Party on the Water Street Barn lawn.

■Franklin County Pride’s 2025 Pride Parade and Festival.

■Hilltown Families — Hilltown Families Suggests, an online educational network aimed at local culture and nature-based resources.

■Mohawk Trail Concerts — Summer Festival 2025 and Music at the Arms.
