GREENFIELD — JC’s Market at 259 Conway St. has reopened under new ownership and management.

Taimoor Khan owns the business and his father, Yasin, manages it, while a family friend owns the building, which was purchased about a year ago. The Khans are now in a rent-to-own agreement.

“People like to support their local businesses,” said Yasin Khan, who also happens to be related to the owners of Call’s Corner Store at 122 Conway St. “People like to shop in their local stores.”

The business operated as JC’s Market for years and was rebranded as The Market shortly before closing. The elder Khan said the decision was made to use the former name because that is what the neighborhood knew.

The store, which opened last week, carries groceries, candy, snacks, tobacco products, beer and wine. Yasin Khan said he has already gotten compliments from customers who like the way he has arranged the store.

Taimoor Khan, who plans to pursue a pharmacy degree at Western New England University, said he decided to take the leap because small business ownership is what his family does.

“It’s all with the help of Dad, you know?” he said. “Without him, it’s not going to be possible.”

Yasin Khan said the store has two full-time employees and one part-time worker. His youngest son, Muneeb Khan, works there as well.
