Youth sports: Turners Falls Suburban takes down Hampshire, now into the semifinal round

The Turners Falls grades 5 and 6 Suburban League boys basketball team is Final Four-bound.

The Powertown picked up a victory on Thursday night at Turners Falls High School, getting past Hampshire 57-43 in the quarterfinal round.

Turners Falls will play at Palmer on Monday night at 6 p.m. in the semifinal round.

Leading the way in scoring for TF was Hunter Kelley, who went for a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. JJ Bones joined him in double figures with 12 points, as did Tyreek Rivera with 11 points and four assists. Cooper Hobbs made it four players in double figures, as he amassed 10 points and eight boards.

Brantley Godfry tallied a pair of goals, but the Allstates Material Group Franklin County Hockey Association 10U White squad dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to Westfield in the Greater Springfield League playoffs on Saturday at the Olympia Ice Center in West Springfield.

Sam Edson also tallied for FCHA, with assists credited to Godfry and Jacoby Houle.
