SHELBURNE FALLS — The Recital Chorus, directed by Margery Heins, will present its 29th annual holiday concert on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Church, located at 17 Severance St.
The chorus is made up of college and community singers who will present traditional carols and seasonal music, rounds and folk songs, as well as works from the 16th century to the present. Music will be sung in several languages, in unison songs, and in pieces for treble chorus and for mixed voices. Soloists and small groups will perform. The audience will be invited to join in singing carols several times during the program.
The concert is free to attend, however donations will be accepted to support the Hilltown Churches Food Pantry and Greenfield Community College Food Pantry.
COLRAIN — Teresa “Tes” Siarnacki has been appointed as the town’s new tree warden, term expiring June 2027.
As tree warden, Siarnacki will care for town-owned trees, manage pruning, lead tree removal hearings, and assess the health and condition of public trees and any potential hazards.
The town has not had a tree warden since 2020, when the term of longtime Tree Warden Michael Friedlander ended and he did not seek reappointment. Highway Department staff members have performed tree warden duties in the interim.
During a Selectboard meeting last week, Siarnacki said she is excited to take on the role and work with the town’s trees. She is a student pursuing her master’s degree in environmental conservation at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and through her studies, she has worked with tree wardens throughout the state.
COLRAIN — The third and fourth quarter tax bills for the town of Colrain have been mailed to residents. Bills for the third quarter are due Feb. 3 and bills for the fourth quarter will be due May 1.
