DEERFIELD — Engage Deerfield, a citizens group aiming to increase participation in town affairs, is holding its second community conversation on Thursday, Feb. 27, with this one focused on “Putting ‘Us’ in the Campus.”
The program will kick off with a timeline of the town’s ongoing municipal campus initiative and discuss how projects like the senior housing development and the 1888 Building have come into being. Finally, folks will be broken up into groups, where they will discuss ideas for the campus, before everyone will come back together and give feedback on those thoughts.
The discussion will be held at 7 p.m. at the Deerfield Community Center, 16 Memorial St. Admission is free, although $5 donations will be accepted to support the series. Light refreshments will be served.
WHATELY — The Whately Congregational Church, 177 Chestnut Plain Road, will host a book and bake sale on Saturday, March 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Alongside homemade baked goods, there will be books, puzzles, DVDs and more for sale. Donations are welcome through Thursday, Feb. 27, and may be left at the church’s carriage shed.
CONWAY — The Planning Board is seeking a member to fill out its ranks.
The board develops bylaws determining how and where the town grows, as it takes on topics such as so-called tiny homes, 5G cell towers, battery energy storage facilities and flood-protection measures. It is also tasked with handling permits for projects like solar arrays and cannabis farms.
The Planning Board now has four members and is seeking a fifth. A background in planning is ideal, but not necessary as long as folks have a commitment to volunteering in the community.
