PHOTO: Benefit concert bears fruit for Sgt. Jacob Garmalo Memorial Fund

At Greenfield Savings Bank on Thursday, Kathleen Garmalo, left, accepts a check and flowers from Eveline MacDougall, next to her, for the Sgt. Jacob Garmalo Memorial Fund that was created in honor of her son. MacDougall’s Fiery Hope chorus, pictured at right, raised $8,000 in a benefit concert for the fund, which honors the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office employee and 21-year-old Leyden resident who was killed when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle in 2016. The fund helps departing inmates obtain a driver’s license, birth certificate or other documents needed to open a bank account, apply for a job or get an apartment. The Fiery Hope chorus also sang to Kathleen Garmalo.
