BERNARDSTON — With Pioneer Valley Regional School’s seventh and eighth grade classes preparing to head to New York City to see “The Outsiders” on Broadway, the Bernardston Kiwanis Club is dedicating its monthly chicken pot pie fundraiser to closing the financial gap.
The chicken pot pie fundraiser will be held at the United Church of Bernardston, 58 Church St., on Saturday, March 29, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. Frozen pot pies will be for sale, too. To reserve a space, call Joel Cole at 413-834-5484.
Meals include chicken pot pie, butternut squash, cranberry sauce, a roll, drinks and a slice of homemade carrot cake.
To ensure every family can go on the field trip, regardless of their ability to pay, the school and the Kiwanis Club are looking to raise about $2,000. Kiwanis Club member Dan Devine said teachers and students came to the Kiwanis Club to pitch their fundraising needs and the club was happy to help out the students.
“On behalf of the Bernardston Kiwanis Club, we strive to help our local youth,” Devine said. “When members of the classes, as well as some of their teachers that will be going to NYC, presented all the facts and figures needed to be reached, [it was clear that the need] was great.”
