Next roast beef supper: Jan. 11

BERNARDSTON — The United Church of Bernardston’s next Second Saturday Roast Beef Supper will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, with seatings at 5 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. Suppers will continue on the second Saturday of each month through April.

At a price of $15, each meal includes roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, a roll and dessert. Call 413-648-9306 to reserve your preferred seating time or to reserve take-out meals. The church is located at 58 Church St.

Learn about animal tracking at Northfield library

NORTHFIELD — Local naturalist David Brown will give a presentation on animal tracking at Dickinson Memorial Library on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The program, co-sponsored by the library and the Northfield Bird Club, will include a slideshow introduction to the basics of finding, identifying, and interpreting the tracks and other signs left behind by wild animals in the winter. A separate outdoor walk will be scheduled at that time depending on expected snow cover. No registration is necessary.

Nomination papers due in Leyden by April 29

LEYDEN — Although a town caucus will be held in March or April, residents who would like to have their names on the town election ballot in June can also take out nomination papers and return them to the Town Clerk’s Office by April 29.

According to Town Clerk Paul McLatchy III, a resident may get their name on the ballot by obtaining 20 signatures from registered voters. The following positions are up for election this year:

■Board of Assessors, three-year term.
