Montague Police Logs: Dec. 23 to Dec. 29, 2024

11:10 a.m. — Caller in the area of Newton and Bridge streets reports he was buying a car from someone and the man gave him fake paperwork, then ran off on foot with the money. Reporting party was chasing him and ended up on someone’s property. The property owner then came outside and assaulted him for being on his property. The vehicle he was supposed to purchase is parked on Newton Street. Officer stopped a white pickup truck that was about to leave the scene on Franklin Street and got more of the story from the driver. Male party was advised of his options.
12:53 p.m. — Multiple 911 calls reporting two parties fighting in the parking lot at Walgreens on Avenue A. Altercation is physical. Officer advised. Situation mediated.
10:21 p.m. — Call from an elderly female who walked home after she locked her keys and phone inside her vehicle in the Our Lady of Peace Church parking lot on Seventh Street. Caller is worried her vehicle would be towed overnight and her purse is in the front seat. Officer transported her back to her vehicle and unlocked it.
4:00 p.m. — Officers flagged down by a motorist at Seventh Street and Avenue A, stating there is a big rock in the road on Turners Falls Road. Officers will move the rock, Greenfield advised.
11:58 p.m. — Reporting party states there is a car that has been idling on Park Street for approximately two hours and it has a loud exhaust. Officer advised. Vehicle gone upon arrival.
9:31 a.m. — Officers being requested to stand by while a private tow company tows away a vehicle on Avenue A.
9:53 p.m. — Caller reports a two-vehicle crash on Millers Falls Road. Believed to be no injuries. Both vehicles towed.
4:48 p.m. — Reporting party states he was driving on Route 2 but could see some people on the ice below the dam on the Turners Falls side. Officer drove over the bridge but didn’t see anyone in the area, advised there was no ice on the Turners Falls side.

2:27 p.m. — Multiple callers reporting a group of people are arguing in the alleyway on 11th Street. Officer has detained a male party that was driving a vehicle.
8:53 p.m. — Reporting party on O Street states they have Blink cameras outside and last night there was a suspicious person who walked through their yard. Tonight she states a car parked outside for around 10 minutes, then drove away. Wanted the incident on record.
12:05 p.m. — Walk-in to the station from Burnett Street reporting late-night harassment. People are pounding on the front door at around 10:30 p.m., then fleeing in a vehicle. Advised of options.
10:25 p.m. — Robbery reported at the Nouria gas station on Third Street. Reporting party states she could see the outline of a gun under the male’s shirt but he did not brandish it and did not tell her he had it. Last seen leaving on foot toward L Street. Appeared to be alone, did not see him run toward a vehicle. Reporting party was advised to lock the door while awaiting an officer’s arrival. Officer advises the store will be closed until the arrival of a manager or assistant manager.
