The wisdom of our current president, Donald J. Trump, is troublesome and shortsighted. Let’s “Drill! Drill! Drill!” and flood the market with U.S. oil, drive down the price and make it so other countries cannot sell their oil. This will give the U.S. leverage to stop other countries from bad behavior.
What happens when we deplete the U.S. oil supply to a point we need other countries’ oil because we do not have enough; maybe not in our lifetime, but possibly in our children’s time and most certainly in our grandchildren’s time? The leaders then will be faced with forcing other countries to sell their depleted oil supply to the U.S., possibly starting another war for our families to fight.
This equates to spending all your hard-earned savings now and let the future take care of itself, one more example of our “I want it now” society. Let’s use all our natural resources now and let the next generations fend for themselves. This is what we have been doing for many years.
Why not use other countries’ oil supply, using our supply as needed so the U.S. has oil and leverage when all oil supplies run low? This is what previous generations have done, trying to leave this world a little better than they found it.
