I am writing to express my gratitude to the offices of Sens. Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren, as well as state Reps. Katherine Clark, Bill Keating, and U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern for taking the time to meet with me this week to discuss the passage of the Safe Step Act, investment in headache/pain research through the NIH, and robust funding for headache care for our veterans.

As a person living with chronic migraine, and a nurse practitioner specializing in addiction medicine, I was proud to participate in the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy’s annual Headache on the Hill to advocate for more equitable policies for all those living with headache/pain disorders in our country. The policies we are discussing will have a direct impact on all persons in Massachusetts to increase research for non-opioid pain treatments, increased funding for caring for our veterans, and guidelines to hold insurance companies accountable for ensuring patients receive the medications their health care providers know they need.
