Lew La Chance: Dont’ forget hydrants and the water supply

Maybe we all forget the fire hydrant. The Fire Department never forgets the source of water to put out fires (hydrants). Now, this winter, there has been more snow than the last two-plus years.

Please remember to clean the hydrant near your house at least two feet all around and clear the snow from the street to the hydrant (the tools to turn the hydrants are 2 feet long).

Those few seconds could have great import. My mom used to say, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
