Indoor track: Plenty of Franklin County winners as PVIAC Meet No. 2 takes place on Sunday

The second PVIAC indoor track meet of the season took place on Sunday at Smith College in Northampton. 

Frontier and Mohawk Trail competed in the early race. The Redhawk girls defeated the Warriors (78-17) and Baystate (95-0) while the Frontier boys picked up wins over Mohawk Trail (67-28) and Baystate (91-3). 

The Warrior girls beat Baystate (62-11) while the Mohawk Trail boys defeated Baystate (61-19). 

Athol, Greenfield, Mahar and Pioneer competed in the late window on Sunday. The Bear boys earned a win over Hampden Charter East (46-13) but the Athol girls fell to Hampden Charter East (24-22). 

The Greenfield boys beat Hampden Charter West (84-0) but fell to Hampshire (58-35) and Mahar (52-42). The Sens also picked up a win over Pioneer (67-19) while the Panthers beat Hampden Charter West (62-0). 

In the girls race, Greenfield earned wins over Hampden Charter West (70-0) and Mahar (48-29) but fell to Hampshire (73-18), while Pioneer beat Hampden Charter West (55-0) and the Senators (42-26). 

The indoor season now takes a two-week holiday break before resuming with meet No. 3 on Sunday, Jan. 7.

Athol

In the boys race, Anthony Lopez-Hipper came in fifth in the high jump (five feet, six inches) and sixth in the 55-meter hurdles (10.10 seconds). Joseph Grant placed eighth in the shot put (32-6.5), and Athol came in fifth in the 4x400 relay. 

In the girls meet, Karleigh Chase walked away with a top 10 finish, placing fourth in the shot put (23-5.25).

Frontier

On the girls side, Hannah Davis won the 55 hurdles (10.11) while placing fourth in the long jump (14-1.25) and sixth in the high jump (4-2), Nicole Plasse came in fifth in the long jump (13-11), fourth in the 600 (1:57.12) and seventh in the 55 (8.14), Maia Christensen took third in the high jump (4-8) and Madelyn Antes came in sixth in the high jump (4-2) and seventh in the 300 (47.39). In the shot put Lilly Novak took third (28-1), Micky McCarthy took sixth (26-3) and Abbigayle Grover finished in seventh (25-9.5). 

Leah Gump took second in the 2 mile (12:50.29) while Liv Christensen placed sixth (13:46.3) and Kiera Nugen took 10th (14:11.39). Addison Morey placed third in the mile (6:04.39) while Gump took fourth (6:11.46) and Maia Christensen placed 10th (6:48.2). Una Millette came in ninth in the 600 (2:01.16) and Josie Fosnot placed sixth in the 300 (47.03), while Phoebe Radner took eighth in the 600 (3:45.72) and Sasha Malo placed ninth (3:48.91). Frontier took fourth in the 4x400 relay (4:43.17). 

On the boys side, Jack Storm came in sixth in the long jump (17-11) and sixth in the 55 meters (7.13), Aidan Valderrama placed third in the high jump (5-6) and second in the 600 (1:32.69), and Oliver Brown took eighth in the high jump (5-4) and ninth in the mile (5:18.87). In the 2 mile Amory Maxey placed sixth (11:26.26), Adam Paul came in ninth (12:51.08) and Caleb Libby took 10th (13:15.9). 

Ben Cachiguango came in third in the 55 hurdles (9.14), third in the 55 (6.92) and fifth in the 300 (40.17), Ben Caron took sixth in the 55 hurdles (9.41), Charles Dennis came in fourth in the mile (5:02.79), Augustus Radner placed eighth in the 600 (1:38.86) and Maxey finished in second in the 1,000 (2:56.69). Frontier took fourth in the 4x400 relay. 

Greenfield

In the girls race, Suhani Patel came in fifth girls high jump (4-6) and Holly Babineau took ninth in the one mile (7:05.15). Greenfield came in eighth in the 4x400 relay (5:35.53). 

On the boys side, Jerry Ven came in second in the shout put (37-8.5), Jackson Caron finished second in the 1,000 (2:54) and fourth in the mile (4:52.73), Mason Youmell earned second in the 55 hurdles (9.04), sixth in the 600 (1:39.47) and 10th in the high jump (5-2), and Dylan Breiwick finished in seventh in the 2 mile (12:07.91) . Alex Scotera came in ninth (12:18.36) in the 2 mile, and Greenfield won the 4x400 relay.

Mahar

In the boys race, Mitch Krasco did a bit of everything for the Sens, placing second in the 55 hurdles (8.42), seventh in the long jump (17-5), fourth in the high jump (5-8) and sixth in the 300 (40.46). Jayden Dicato took third in the shot put (35-4.25).

Mathieu Soucy finished in fifth in 55 (6.95) and fourth in the 300 (39.63) while Jeff LaPlante came in seventh in the 1,000 (3:12.87). Mahar took fourth in the 4x400 relay. 

On the girls side Stellina Moore came in fifth in the long jump (13-8), third in the high jump (4-6) and third in the 55 hurdles (10.09). 

Mohawk Trail

On the girls side Virginia Krezmien won both the mile (5:50.52) and the 1,000 (3:31.39), and placed fifth in the high jump (4-4), Avery Johnston came in eighth in the shot put (25-5.25) while Sophia Goodnow came in 10th in the shot put (23-9.5). The Warriors placed 10th in the 4x400 relay (5:21.86). 

On the boys side Chay Mojallali walked away victorious in the high jump (6-2) while also earning fifth in the 55 hurdles (9.33). Tanner Biagini came in 10th in the long jump (16-2) and 10th in the 300 (41.86), Peter Healy placed fifth in the mile (5:04.49) and Rex Kuoppala came in 10th in the mile (5:20.08). Mohawk Trail took fifth in the 4x400 relay. 

Pioneer

In the girls race Louise Flagollet won the high jump (4-10) and took eighth in the 300 (47.82) while Emmanuelle Flagollet came in 10th in the 55 (8.47). Sahana Heilman came in seventh in the long jump (13-4), seventh in the one mile (6:51.36) and fifth in the 55 hurdles (10.46). The Pioneer girls placed seventh in the 4x400 relay (5:12.43). 

On the boys side Griffin de Ruiter took 10th in the 300 (41.34) while the Panthers placed second in the 4x400 relay.
