GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man turned an unlucky lottery ticket into a lucky one when he won $1 million in the fourth and final second-chance drawing in the Massachusetts Lottery’s “The Fastest Road to $1 Million” instant game.

Ramiro Buenrostro claimed his prize at the Massachusetts Lottery headquarters in Dorchester last month, opting for a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). According to the Massachusetts Lottery’s website, Buenrostro plans to use his winnings to pay off his mortgage and purchase a car.

To enter this second-chance drawing, which took place May 2, players had to submit non-winning “The Fastest Road to $1 Million” tickets through the Lottery’s website or the “MA Lottery 2nd Chance” mobile app. Buenrostro’s winning entry was selected randomly from more than 675,000 tickets entered.

According to the Massachusetts Lottery’s website, four winners of $100,000, 14 winners of $10,000, 137 winners of $1,000, and 1,561 winners of $100 were also selected.

Attempts to contact Buenrostro have been unsuccessful.
