Authorities identify Northampton man found dead in Gill

GILL — The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office has identified the 29-year-old man whose body was found in the Connecticut River near the French King Bridge on Monday afternoon as Northampton resident Daniel Esrick.

No foul play is suspected, according to the DA’s office. Esrick’s body was found on the Gill side of the Connecticut River off of Route 2.

First responders from the Gill and Montague Police departments, the Gill Fire Department, State Police detectives assigned to the DA’s office and State Police troopers with the Crime Scene Services Section responded to the scene on Monday.

The investigation into Esrick’s death continues. According to the DA’s office, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
