Alpine ski: Mohawk Trail’s Weston den Ouden, Addie Loomis pick up victories at PVIAC Meet No. 5

For the second race in a row, Mohawk Trail’s Weston den Ouden was the top finisher at the PVIAC alpine ski meet at Berkshire East in Charlemont on Thursday.

den Ouden finished the boys’ giant slalom course in a time of 30.48 seconds to pace the field. It was the fifth PVIAC race of the season. 

Mohawk Trail teammate Gage Patenaude placed third (31.91), and Phineas Tuttman took 10th to join den Ouden in the top 10.

Ben Zarotny came in 23rd (35.87) while Brayden Brisson placed 55th (41.82) to round out the top five Mohawk Trail finishers. 

In the girls’ race, Addie Loomis made it five wins in a row to open the season, as the Mohawk Trail standout blasted down the slalom course in a time of 44.57 seconds. 

Emmy Sisum (third, 47.15) and Mae Hoff (seventh, 52.26) joined her in the top 10.

Brooke Koshinsky placed 13th (54.85), Naomi den Ouden tied for 14th (56.25), Sofiya Slocik-Gritzner came in 17th (58.24), Caroline Makosiej placed 18th (59.20) while Ohia Dellert took 26th (1:02.81), giving the Mohawk Trail girls eight of the top 30 placers. 

Meet No. 6 is scheduled for Tuesday back at Berkshire East.
