MONTAGUE — As the Gill-Montague Regional School District begins to revise its budget for fiscal year 2026, figures presented during Tuesday’s School Committee meeting show a $1.3 million shortfall.
The California fires are truly tragic. Scientists are making it clear that the reason these fires have been so intense is the deadly combination of hurricane force winds (up to 100 mph) and extreme drought (.01 inches of rain since the beginning of October, when the norm would be 4.5 or 5 inches).

TURNERS FALLS — The effort to renovate or expand the existing Carnegie Library, or build a new main branch library altogether, has taken another key step forward.

MONTAGUE — Montague Police Lt. Christopher Bonnett has been placed on administrative leave and an internal investigation is underway in the department, Town Administrator Walter Ramsey confirmed on Thursday.
