TURNERS FALLS — RiverCulture will present “Do It Now” on Sunday, July 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Peskeomskut Park, located at Avenue A and Seventh Street. The performance features poet Paul Richmond, percussionist Tony Vacca and guitarist John Sheldon presenting beat poetry and “funkadelic” music.
A book fair featuring regional publishers and authors will also be held in the park during the same hours.
The concert and book fair are family-friendly and free to attend. Donations are accepted, but not required. The rain date is Sunday, July 21, at the same time.

TURNERS FALLS — Greenfield Savings Bank at 282 Avenue A is hosting an informational hour on disability law and advocacy on Saturday, July 20, from 1 to 2 p.m. with local disability rights advocate Betty Tegel.
Tegel will provide attendees with guidance on how to advocate to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. She has spent years advocating for disability rights locally and on the state level.
The discussion is free to attend, but reservations are required by visiting the 282 Avenue A bank or by calling 888-324-3191. Reservations will be accepted until Friday, July 19, at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be provided at the event.
TURNERS FALLS — Firefighters from the Bureau of Forest Fire Control and Forestry will present a fire safety presentation with Smokey Bear at the Great Falls Discovery Center, 2 Avenue A, on Thursday, July 11, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Attendees can meet Smokey Bear from 4 to 5 p.m., as well as tour a wildland fire engine and participate in a scavenger hunt. Attendees will each take home a “Smokey Story” book and a party favor bag as part of Smokey Bear’s 80th birthday celebration this year.
This is a free, all-ages event happening rain or shine. The event is sponsored by the Department of Conservation and Recreation and Montague Public Libraries.
