The Franklin Tech softball team saw its run in the MIAA Div. 5 state tournament come to a close on Saturday.

The fifth-seeded Eagles traveled to play No. 4 Georgetown, but the Royals put four runs on the board in the first inning and Franklin Tech was unable to answer, with Georgetown advancing via a 4-2 quarterfinal round victory.

The Royals (14-6) will play No. 8 Tahanto in the semifinals at a date and time to be determined.

The Eagles (20-4) scored both of their runs in the top of the third. Jenna Petrowicz cracked an RBI single before Kaitlin Trudeau drove in a run, but Franklin Tech was unable to get another run across from there.

Trudeau added a base hit while Gillien Figueroa hit an RBI single for Georgetown.
