DEERFIELD — Two juveniles are being referred to Greenfield Juvenile Court for allegedly stealing two vehicles and crashing one into a River Road home on Sunday afternoon.
The juveniles will face charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, negligent operation, unlicensed operation, failure to maintain a lane, and driving at a speed greater than what was reasonable and proper, according to Deerfield Police Chief John Paciorek Jr.
Paciorek said the Deerfield Police Department and Deerfield Fire District were dispatched to 823 River Road at around 1 p.m. Sunday after a vehicle crashed into a house. He said two vehicles were left behind and multiple juveniles allegedly fled the scene with masks on their faces.
The Montague Police Department arrested one of the juveniles later that afternoon, while the second one was identified later in the evening, according to Paciorek.
No injuries were reported and while the residence was damaged, Paciorek said there was no structural damage.
Paciorek said both vehicles were confirmed stolen from Deerfield. He reminded residents to lock their vehicles.
“Residents are reminded to never leave their keys in their vehicles,” he said, “and to always lock them.”
