After an exciting season at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls, the Knights of Columbus Golf League saw its season come to an end on Wednesday night with Steve Call capturing the league championship.

Call’s plus-6 point quota led the way, just ahead of runner-up Craig LaBlanc (plus-5). Three-club winner was Chris Ray (plus-9), and Art Girard was second (plus-8).

Closest to pin winners were Girard (No. 7, 9-0) and Bill Devino (No. 9, 11-10), while three-club skins were won by Jaime Deery, Bob Bourbeau and Girard. Bourbeau’s 34 was the low gross in the three-club competition.

Don Maynard Race

The 30th annual Don Maynard Memorial Race is scheduled for this Saturday at 9:30 a.m at the Greenfield Municipal Swimming Area. 

The options are to run the 5 mile road race or the 3 mile walk. T-shirts will be given to the first 50 people who register. Online registration is available at RunSignup.com. The race is looking for volunteers. Questions can be directed to Chuck Adams at 413-522-6688.

Montague Bluefish registration

The Montague Bluefish Swim Team — a competitive/recreational swim team that competes in the Pioneer Valley Swim League — is holding a preseason informational meeting on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. at Turners Falls High School. 

Swimmers in the program range from ages 6-through-18. New swimmers must be able to successfully complete an in-water swim test. Practices are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with meets on Saturdays. The season runs from mid-October to March. Call 413-863-3216 or visit www.montaguebluefish.com for more details.
