Registration for the annual Sawmill River 10K has begun.

The Sawmill Run is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025 in Montague Center. The road race will begin promptly at 10 a.m. near the Village Common on Main Street. Race Day registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Montague Common Hall at 34 Main St. in Montague.

Divisions include Youth (17 yrs. & Under), Open (18-39 yrs.), Master (40-49 yrs.), Senior (50-59 yrs.), and Senior-Plus (60 yrs. & Up). Entry Fees are $30 (paid by noon Dec. 31) or $40 (thereafter). Hot and cold refreshments will be provided.

The event benefits MPRD’s Sponsor-A-Child Scholarship Program. Online registration is available (www.runreg.com/sawmill-river-10k-run), or log onto www.montagueparksrec.com or call MPRD at (413) 863-3216 to receive a registration form and additional information.

FCHA results

Samuel Edson buried a hat trick, and the FCHA 10U East hockey team blanked Nonotuck, 8-0, in a Greater Springfield League contest on Sunday at Collins-Moylan Arena in Greenfield.

Nicholas Brisson netted a pair of goals for FCHA, while Charles Barbato, Finnegan Connelly and Killian Connelly also tallied in the win. Edson and Harper Coffin notched assists, and goalie Wyatt Wilkins pitched a shutout between the pipes.

FCHA 9, Yellow Jackets 0 — In Saturday action, Edson and Jacoby Houle scored hat trick’s in FCHA’s shutout victory at Cyr Arena in Springfield.
